Losing weight can be an achievable goal for you this year. Here are some tips that can have it happen for you.
- Don't eat three hours before bedtime. This will help keep undigested carbs from being stored as fat. If you need to eat, the best option would be pro biotic yogurt or a small protein drink. The protein will actually help your body recover from your work outs.
- Eat small meals every few hours. This will keep your blood sugar levels stable and keep your metabolism going strong. A another plus to thins rule is that you will not over eat later in the day because you will always feel satisfied.
- Drink water. Water will help your body flush out all the toxins and get everything flowing better. - Journaling. Keep a daily food journal so that you can see what you are eating and how you could improve in. Some people ingest many extra calories a day that could be cut out. Be honest with yourself and wright it all down.
- Toss the junk. You are going to have to eat "clean" to get the results you want. Get rid of anything that contains or are high in saturated fats, trans fats, sugar and sodium. These foods would be cookies, pastries, chips, canned soup, soda, process meat / cheese, anything with white flour, candy. I know that I just mentioned some of your favorite foods, but if you want the results you have got to get rid of the foods that are sabotaging your health and weight loss efforts.
- Portion size. Eat the right portion size of foods so that your stomach can shrink. Try switching to a smaller plate. The rule for meat is the size of your palm. Potatoes, rice or pasta should be 1/2 a cup to just under a cup and fruits and veggies would be the size of your fist. If you have a sandwich for lunch eat half and then have the other have a few hours later. It may be hard at first to adjust, be you will be fine once your stomach shrinks.
- Quick snacks: Pre pack snacks for your car. Apples can last quite awhile outside the fridge. Pack mixed nuts into small zip lock bags. Store nuts and apples in your glove box. Wash and cut up all your veggies and fruit to have available if you are on the run. Cereal bars are also a great choice, just make sure that they are 100 calories or less.
- Stability balls. If you sit for a long time at a computer or desk replace your chair with a stability ball. It is great for your core and your balance. - Check your weight. Weight yourself once a week or once a day. Make sure that you do it first thing in the morning, because that is your true weight on an empty stomach. Some people hate weighing themselves, so if you are one of those people then please don't force yourself. Others find it motivating to see what they weigh in the morning so they can be sure that they push themselves to "be good" that day. If you don't like weight yourself that often than do it every other week or even every month to check your progress. - Add more steps to your day. Using a pedometer is a perfect way to see how many steps you take a day. For weight loss results 10,000 steps a day is good to achieve. If you don't take that many steps a day then add more steps into your daily schedule. Some tips are to park your car far away from the store. Another could be to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Take your dog for a walk if you have one. Chase your kids around the house. - Drink Coffee. Sipping on caffeinated coffee and tea will help you burn more calories a day. Researchers found that people on a calorie restricted diet who drank 2 1/2 cups of caffeine a day for four weeks lost more weight then the people who had no caffeine.
